about
"Spectrum (for Sonic Boom)" is the first single from Crayola Eyes' full-length debut album scheduled to be released later this year through La Munai Records. It's an homage in overdrive to, as the title suggests, Peter Kember a.k.a. Sonic Boom — their musical hero who's also the co-founder of the legendary unit, Spacemen 3.
Crayola Eyes even applied a minimalistic approach that Kember is known for: utilizing only two chords and repetitive lyrics, with synth as the primary melody, for the song. It showcases Crayola Eyes' tendency and ability to draw on their influences in order to create something entirely authentic.
The band explained: "Ultimately, 'Spectrum (for Sonic Boom)' is as much an homage as it is a proof that we're not afraid to wear our influences on our sleeves. After all, the important thing is not where you take things from, but where you take them to."
lyrics
Who do you want to see?
Who do you want to hear?
Who do you want to love?
I bet you can’t get through
I want to see
I want to hear
I want to love
But I can’t get through
Who do you want to see?
Who do you want to hear?
Who do you want to love?
I bet you can’t get through
I want to see
I want to hear
I want to love
But I can’t get through
Whoo hoo hoo
Hey, man
Hey, man
Hey, man
Hey, man
Hey, man
I bet you can’t get through
I bet you can’t get through
I bet you can’t get through
I bet you can’t get through now, honey
I bet you can’t get through now, baby
I bet you can’t get through, lover lover
I bet you can’t get through now, darling
I bet you can’t get through
